Enjoy the best Freeride in Saas Fee, Escape the ordinary

Saas Fee is one of the highest ski areas in Europe and as a result has some of the most reliable snow for freeriding. The Saas Valley has some incredibly varied terrain; steep trees, glacier skiing, pillow lines and short ski tours to untracked powder are all available depending on conditions.

If it’s your first experience in the backcountry or off-piste, we provide step-by step instruction with technical and tactical tips. Safety is always our number one priority.

Avalanche backpack with kit (beacon, shovel and probe) are required and touring skis are recommended. Heli-skiing is also available.

Backcountry Area & Facilities

We are experienced freeride guides and have based ourselves in the Valais region of Switzerland due to our passionate love of the terrain here. The Valais Freeride domains boast some of the highest peaks in the Alps with mind-blowing opportunities for endless freeride skiing.

Saas Fee has an incredible 1800 meters of vertical descent of north facing cold, blower snow. This allows us to ski all aspects, along with some of the best tree-skiing in the Valais. In addition, a short ski-tour can provide access to secluded areas with pristine terrain.

Why choose our Freeride Guides for discovering Saas Fee?

Ski Zenit has taken years of extensive experience guiding in Saas Fee and created a team of established professional UIAGM certified mountain and ski freeride guides who excel in finding the best terrain conditions allow.

We are passionate about creating the entire ski experience both on and off-snow. We take pride in creating lasting relationships with our guests and strive to make all aspects of your vacation enjoyable.

Our offerings include a variety of freeride lessons, avalanche or backcountry training and custom adventures delivered in multiple languages. We have the additional ability to create ski itineraries in other areas of Switzerland as well as the rest of the world.

“My son had an awesome experience. The coaches are all extremely professional, kind, caring, and knowledgeable. Our son got excellent feedback on his skiing and how to improve and he grew hugely in confidence both on and off the piste. We were very impressed by the coaches and by the whole setup. He’s looking forward to training with them again soon. Thank you!”

Off-piste safety equipment is necessary for all our freeride skiing lessons. This consists of an avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe. We highly recommend the use of a backpack with an inflatable air bag system to be even safer. We highly recommend the use of ski touring equipment to all our freeride guests to maximize terrain access
To enjoy a freeride lesson, you need to be an advanced skier. You don't have to be an experienced off-piste skier, but you have to be comfortable on all slopes of a ski resort. Skiing off-piste will prove itself more challenging than any type of ski slope.
There are multiple ski hire shops in Saas Fee, we recommend Glacier Sport and guests having lessons with us receive a 10% discount on equipment rental.
If you have booked private lessons our instructors can meet you in a variety of locations in resort such as: Plattjen / Spielboden Gondola station. Alpin Express Gondola station. Children’s group lessons will meet at the Plattjen / Spielboden Gondola station on Monday mornings. Please confirm your meeting point with the office when booking.
Our children’s group lessons are all taught in English. Private lessons can be booked in English, German, French, Dutch and Spanish subject to availability.
